So I have been on the island for a little over a week now. The first week was a difficult one. I did not really expect to go through some of the struggles I did on the island so far. The daily everyday have become hassle. However, I finally feel myself starting to adjust to this island life. And by no means does island life me fruity cocktails and hammocks on the beach.
Week 1 consisted of orientations and I was subject to Basic Life support class. I completed the class and passed my first exam as a med student! Unfortunately this will by far have been the easiest of exams to come.
Week 1 was an emotional roller coaster for me as each day presented new challenges. Some were tougher then others to overcome. I am greatly for the support base I have at home. They really helped pull me through the first week, which is said to be the hardest week emotionally out of the program.
Week 2 classes have started and I am starting to get into the swing of things.
Today was our first day of instruction. I have spent nearly 5 hours in the library already today reviewing todays material and preparing for the rest of the weeks lectures. This is going to be a long tough road.
I will try and write a weekly post to keep every one updated.
Sincerely,
Thomas
